Otis Redding
Otis Redding was born September 9, 1941 in Dawson, Georgia, and his family moved to Macon when he was five.
Otis Redding is generally considered the most influential male soul singer of the 1960's. His hit songs like "Love Man", "Try A Little Tenderness" and "Dock of the Bay" (credited with more than 8 million performances), continue to garner international airplay thirty-eight years after his tragic death.
Otis Reding died on this day in 1969 when his twin-engine Beechcraft crashed into Lake Monona, in Madison, Wisconsin.
