Big surprise in Old Trafford. The local team reached two goals of advantage, both scored by Welbeck (16' and 17') but Sir Ferguson's arrogance, leaving several of the best players out, almost cost the defeat. After goals by F. Frey (58') and A. Frey (scored two at 60' and 76' from penalty kick) the English team saved one point with the goal at minute 90 by Young. In this group Benfica have won in Bucuresti, Romania against Otelul Galati with a single goal by Bruno César and now there are three teams fighting for the qualification.

In the groups A and D the local teams have won the matches with Bayern (group A) and Real Madrid (group D) confirming their favouritism. It looks Napoli and Man. City disputes the second place (group A) and Ol. Lyonnais and Ajax will do the same in Group D.

In Group C Internazionale won in Moskva (3-2) and balanced the defeat of the first Matchday against Trabzonspor that today have need to recover of one goal against Olympic Lyonnais. Saw (30') gave advantage to French but, throught penalty kick, Colman equalized.
