Champions League - An English decision

Drogba after scoring his first goal in Stanford Bridge against
Liverpool. He was the man of match

In the Premier League Manchester United and Chelsea are in a final duel to decide which of the clubs will win the trophy. Well, today we stood to know that Manchester United will find Chelsea in Moscow, next May 21, for the 2007/2008 Champions League final.

Chelsea FC achieved their dream of a place in the UEFA Champions League final (and without Mourinho !) by overcoming Liverpool FC, tonight, after extra-time in a match full of emotion. Drogba scored two goals (1-0 and 3-1) and Gerrard, scoring a penalty shot, gave Chelsea advantage already in extra-time. Torres 64' (1-1) and Babel (2-3) scored for Liverpool but the «red devils» efforts came too late to meet their intentions.

It was a thrilling game, with different periods of superiority by each team and with a controversial goal invalidated (which would have given Chelsea a 2-1 advantage) and a penalty shot two minutes after that.

It was a deserved victory for the London team. The Italian referee Roberto Rosetti (assisted by Alessandro Griselli and Paolo Calcagno) did a good job.

Yesterday, Man. United defeated Barcelona by 1-0 (Scholes 14') in a very tactical match. Messi excelled for the Spanish team but alone he wasn't adequate to save Barcelona from a disappointing season.

Now, we are going to have a confirmation about the English winner trophy or a new possibility for the defeated team to get a major conquer.

One thing is certain, for the second consecutive year we have had three English teams in the Semi-finals of Champions League and now a 100% British final (will the referee be, British too?). This is proof of the superior stage of the British Isle clubs over the Continental clubs (neither Italians nor Germans can, nowadays, compete with the best English teams).
