Germany very difficulty (on penalty kicks) and Italy easily, avance to Semi-Finals

Germany - Italy is the first defined Semi-Final

Germany was losing since 49th minute when Ayala met the ball with a header after corner kick by Riquelme. At 71’ Abbondanzieri (blowed from Miroslav Klose) was replaced by Franco in the Argentina goal, and the defensive tactic of Argentine team cost a hight price because at 80th minute Klose, the best scorer of the tournment, equalised the score. The extra-time didn't produce goals and at 120th minute Leandro Cuffre (Argentina) received a red card. On the penalty kicks decision Lehmann was the hero for Germany as his saves from Ayala and Cambiasso were crucial. Germany had a 100 per cent success rate from the penalty spot, with Neuville, Ballack, Podolski and Borowski all converting. Michael Ballack was chosen as Budweiser Man of the Match.

In the other match, in Dortmund, Italy early advanced on the score by Zambrotta. The first-half wasn't an interesting game but at the second-half Ukraine had a good reaction and was near to equalize for several times. Then the lucky acompanied the squadra azurra principally when Buffon produced a remarkable save to deny Gusev and Barzagli on line of goal saved the second attempt.

Next minute Luca Toni scored the second Italian goal and decided the match. Ukraine had a good and sportiv behaviour and Gusin (and all the others) saw his looping header come crashing back off the face of the crossbar with Buffon, for once, beaten.

Italy with remarkable efectiveness scored again by Luca Toni at 69' after Zambrotta assistance and gave an exagerated difference.

Gennaro Gattuso was considered the Budweiser Man of the Match.

Now these two teams Germany and Italy are going to meet in Dortmund on 4 July.
