World Science Day For Peace and Development

The World Science Day for Peace and Development (WSDPD) was established by UNESCO in 2001 and is celebrated on 10 November each year.

The WSDPD's objectives are :
  • To strengthen public awareness on the role of science for peaceful and sustainable societies

  • To promote national and international solidarity for a shared science between countries

  • To renew national and international commitment for the use of science for the benefit of societies

  • To draw attention to the challenges faced by science and raise support for the scientific endeavour
This year, the major event will be taking place in Mexico City from 10 to 13 November 2008, to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World. Global climate changes is a main issue on this day.
