Ruth Handler died on April 26, 2002 (b. on November 4, 1916). She was an American toy manufacturer, co-founder of Mattel and creator of the Barbie doll (1959). Inventor of an icon despised by feminists, she was also a pioneer whose corporate success and crusade against breast cancer cast her as a trailblazer for modern women.
You can find here the true Barbie's story. She's a successful businesswoman, a member of a rock band and a Women's World Cup Soccer player.
Over the years, Barbie has indeed achieved the title of the most popular fashion doll ever created. And she is near the fifty!
