A ferry boat, The Al Salam Boccaccio 98 loaded to near capacity with about 1,400 people ( about 1,300 passengers and 100 crew members) - and dozens of vehicles, sank at midnight (5 p.m. Thursday ET), Egyptian officials said. The boat was making an overnight trip from Duba (Saudi Arabia) to Safaga (Egypt). It looks like the majority of the passengers were Egyptian Muslim missionaries that had gone to pray to Meca and they came back to Egypt. This is a disaster but it's case to say that God thought they didn't pray enough.
343 people were rescued so far. The cause of the disaster is not known, but there were high winds when the 35-year-old vessel set sail.
